Hold Me Maternity

Christina has got a teeny tiny baby belly. She's 35 weeks along in these images. And those are her regular jeans. I know, not fair, eh? :) Unbeknownst to her, Christina belongs to a group a pretty cool girls who all have had a few kids, then waited a few years, and then had another! With Heather, Mary, and Kellee in the club, Christina is in very good company. (Yes, I just made up a club for ya'll. You can thank me later!)

Nine Months of Waiting....

Isn't pregnancy so fun? The excitement, the anticipation... Gorgeous Heather and her family have chosen to wait until the birth to find out the baby's gender. Personally, I have done this (waited) four times, so I can say that it never gets old! It's always exciting, after all the labor and birthing the baby and then there is that moment of "It's a....." and everyone cheers and is so excited! So fun.

Desirae + Justin. Maternity.

Desirae requested a session at Red Rocks and we somehow scheduled the only beautiful Saturday in March! As you can see, Desirae's in a tank top and she's not shivering nor does she have goose bumps. It was a gorgeously warm day. The two Saturdays before and the two Saturdays after.... cold and windy and sometimes even rainy. I am so glad we got the warm day! :) It really was a gorgeous afternoon. Desirae & Justin enjoy the outdoors and hiking, and have decorated the nursery in an outdoorsy theme, and Desirae says the Red Rocks scenery will match just perfectly. We hiked, we explored, we saw some really strange bugs..... Yep, it was a good afternoon.

A Tiny Seed

Carolyn + Geoff. Maternity.

Upon entering Carolyn & Geoff's home, the fragrance of Nag Champa met me at the door. I immediately noticed several sculptures in their living room, which I learned were made by an artist friend and I was show a framed photograph that was made by another artist friend. I am pleased to be able to add to the wonderful collection of art in this home!

Carolyn and Geoff are expecting their first child - a girl - and are very excited! This crib will soon be filled with an adorable bundle of joy!

Laura + Andy. Maternity.

Laura is about 32 weeks pregnant in these photos. Isn't she gorgeous? We did the session in their house, which made for a relaxed, comfortable shoot and the bedroom shots turned out very fun! Look for Laura again in January for her birth!!!

Nothing Like Waiting Until the Last Minute...

So, I'm really good at putting off getting my own portraits done. Here are MY maternity portraits taken a mere 48 hours before my contractions started. My wonderfully agreeable husband hiked through a mosquito-infested flower field with me in the almost-high-noon sun to take these shots of me. I know, not the best conditions.... but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Especially when you are 38.5 weeks along and know that the baby could come any day!

The good news is that I'm not pregnant anymore!!! Our baby was born Tuesday. I will have a full post with more details and pictures soon!

Amazing Birth Story!

My clients Angela & Mike had a bit of an adventure last week. Their baby came seven weeks early!! He's a little guy but he's healthy, and everyone is fine - he just decided to come early! (Hey, wait a minute... I was due much before Angela and I'm still pregnant!) Anyways Angela's birth story even made the newspaper - check out this article in the Las Vegas Sun for the full report. Kim. Maternity.

Kim is 37 weeks in these portraits. She is expecting a boy this time around - hence all the blue ribbons, etc. His big sister is quite the character. She kept me laughing throughout the whole session. Congratulations Kim & Family, and I can't wait to hear about your new little boy when he gets here!

Maternity Leave

No, this is not me, although I wouldn't mind a shot of myself like this. This is a sneak peak for Kim.
Announcing my own Maternity Leave. I'm slightly sad. But it's for the best. After three easy, uncomplicated pregnancies and deliveries, I really shouldn't complain about having to "slow down" the last four weeks of this pregnancy. I won't be accepting portrait sessions between now and mid-to-late August (it's too hot anyways!!). However I will have plenty of things to post on the blog including hopefully my own maternity pics, so don't be a stranger. And if you decide at the last minute you want a birth photographer, you can totally tempt me with that one - I'll probably say yes. :)

Angela + Mike. Maternity.

Angela & Mike are expecting their first child. They are naturals in front of the camera! Mike is an understudy for the Lion King production, so he is used to being in the spotlight. They moved here from New York City and wanted maternity portraits that said "Vegas!" So we met on Fremont Street on a somewhat coolish morning for their session. Angela is about 28 weeks in these photos and is just stunning in her blue dress. Great color for you, Angela. ;)
She doesn't even look pregnant from behind!!
