We actually had 5 sets of models, 5 different "stations" we could rotate through. However, it is a little different (huh, a little?) than a regular portrait session in that there are a number of photographers all trying to photograph the same person you are!! Where does the model look? Which directing voice does she listen to?? And now, months later I am super picky about which images were even worth editing, since this shoot was for me and not a client. Wow, this is an interesting process. Ah well, I'd do it again. Model shoots are fun and chatting with the other photographers is fun and making new friends is always good. :)

Aaahhhhhh... Engagement sessions are quite fun. The couples are always so cute, the girls beautiful and the boys can't keep their eyes off their girls. It is very fun to capture moments for couples at the beginning of the rest of their lives together! Such excitement & anticipation!!
Celeste and Ryan met on a blind date. They have a mutual friend (the lovely Michelle) who had been dropping hints like mad that they should meet. The two finally consented and soon hit it off. In planning the details for this session, Celeste said "we're both forrible decision makers." I responded with "Well, you've decided to get married so you're doing pretty good so far!" Ryan and Celeste enjoy fishing & hiking and will be tying the knot later this spring in Lake Tahoe. Congrats you two!!!
Zack and Brooke met a few years ago and "hung out" for a while. Then one day he brought her flowers and officially asked her to be his girlfriend. So sweet!! After hearing about then, I asked how he proposed and Zack said "I just asked her. I was afraid if I planned anything big, that she would suspect something, so I just surprised her and asked her." And she said yes! I've known Brooke for a few years now, and she's always been a pretty girl, but WOW she's gorgeous!

These last two are pretty awesome in color, but the vintage look is pretty sweet too. And Brooke is so fierce! Well, if this last post was about the beauties of being a parents, then this new post is about the joys of being a grandparent. I often get calls from people saying "My family is finally going to be all together in one place and we need a family portrait" Of course this is a great opportunity and you have a great need for it. The grandkids grow, people get married, new babies are born. Your family is constantly changing. Record how your family is right now! Don't be one of those people who say "the last family portrait we did was when Jane was 4 yrs old, and now she's 20!" Peggy & Jon are a fantastic couple. They have this wonderful sense of humor between the two of them that is just so fun. They were able to spend an entire weekend with their three sons and their beautiful wives, plus a handful of grandkids. And they shared a small part of their weekend with me! ;)

This family is full of gorgeous people!!! Love it!

This is one fabulous couple! And I know there are a lot of people out there who feel the same way. Even though my contest was won randomly, I couldn't have hand-picked a more deserving couple. You can read their story here.
After first getting to know them when I shot their daughter's wedding almost 2 years ago (wow, time flies!), my appreciation for Meegan & Rey has only grown since. They are such lovely people and I am so pleased to have been able to provide them with these portraits. And they were so up for anything I said! We discussed movies, history, raising kids, and Rey even entertained himself with my son's lightsaber as we drove a short distance to our location. Sweet!
JP & Davina are moving (well, JP has already moved!) and they fittingly requested the back of the iconic Las Vegas sign. JP is going to be opening a French Mediterranean restaurant in Minnesota which sounds delicious!!

Davina & JP also wanted shots that showed their desert surroundings. I did not realize it at the time, but this tree has GIANT thorns on it. Hello!!! This is not really a "park-friendly" tree. Or even people-friendly. How's that for desert vegetation, eh? I bet you won't find that in Minnesota.
